Nyaribari Chache Constituency has disbursed Sh28 million from the bursary kitty to bright but needy students in the area.
Area Member of Parliament Richard Tongi said all students who had applied received the cheques unlike in past when there were claims of bias in the disbursement of bursaries.
Tongi encouraged learners to put more effort in learning to justify the assistance they received.
“It is only in education where the children of the poor and the rich can share on equal terms on one table,” he stated, adding that students graduating from technical and vocational centres will greatly contribute in realization of Vision 2030.
The MP said there was need to increase the allocation of bursaries from Sh28 million to Sh48 million to benefit learners in tertiary institutions also.
