Sinyolo Girls High School in Kisumu County has welcomed Dr Carolyn Atieno as its new principal, following the exit of Dr Teresa Datche after her tenure at the institution.
The leadership transition comes at a time when schools across the country are adjusting to the implementation of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework, placing new demands on school administrators to balance curriculum delivery with institutional management.
Dr Datche is credited with steering the school through a period of academic and infrastructural growth during her time at the helm. Her departure marks the end of a tenure that stakeholders within the school community have described as impactful.
Dr Atieno now takes over the running of the institution, with expectations from parents, staff and the wider school community centred on continuity of the gains made under her predecessor, while steering the school through the ongoing CBE transition.
Education stakeholders have continued to emphasise the importance of stable school leadership during the CBE rollout, noting that frequent changes in administration can affect the pace of implementation at the institutional level.
The school community has expressed optimism that the new administration will build on the existing foundation while addressing emerging challenges tied to the evolving curriculum demands.
