Nkareta Senior School in Narok County is due to receive a water bowser today, October 29, to help deal with water shortages that forced it to close for about a week.
The school closed on August 30, 2026, after a severe water shortage that disrupted normal operations and raised concerns over sanitation, hygiene and learners' welfare. It reopened on September 7.
The school depends on water delivered by tankers from Narok town, but poor road conditions have made deliveries difficult, leaving it exposed to recurring shortages.
The handover ceremony will take place at the County Commissioner's parking bay, with school administrators, education officials and representatives of the national government in attendance.
According to the programme, the event will begin with the school anthem and opening prayers. The school principal, representatives of the Parents' Association and the Board of Management will speak.
The ceremony will end with a vote of thanks, after which the water bowser will leave for Nkareta Senior School.
The bowser is expected to help meet the school's daily water needs. A lasting water supply and better road access would still be needed to prevent future disruptions.
