In the new role, Marshall is expected to contribute to discussions and initiatives on professional standards in the teaching profession and to the union's wider agenda. The appointment also gives the Nandi branch representation in the union's national leadership, where officials take part in policy discussions and decisions affecting teachers.
Marshall brings experience from both classroom teaching and teachers' representation. His appointment comes as the education sector adjusts to changes in curriculum implementation, teacher deployment and professional development, particularly in the JSS system.
