Kenya expands cybersecurity training in TVET colleges ahead of Cyber Week
Students and trainers participate in the fifth Cyber Week Sensitisation Programme at Kiambu National Polytechnic, where government and industry representatives highlight cybersecurity skills, online safety and career opportunities in Kenya's digital economy.

Dr Koyabe said the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) into everyday activities had added another dimension to cybersecurity, requiring citizens to understand both the benefits of technology and the risks associated with its misuse.

The PS said the sensitisation programme provided an opportunity for students and trainers to acquire practical knowledge that could be applied both in their personal lives and professional environments.

The country's principal legal safeguards include the Data Protection Act, 2019, and the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, 2018, while the Kenya Cybersecurity Strategy 2022 provides a policy framework for strengthening national cyber resilience.
