At least 5,000 vulnerable students in Kirinyaga Central Constituency have been awarded scholarships worth KSh59.2 million.

Day school students will each get KSh5,000 while those in boarding schools will receive KSh6,000.
Those in boarding schools outside the county and institutions of higher learning will get KSh10,000.
The funds were sourced from the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) in the area.

Speaking during disbursement exercise, Kirinyaga Central Member of Parliament (MP) Gachoki Gitari said he is committed to support education system in all means possible.
This is the highest allocation to education ever in the constituency since the inception of NG-CDF where over 15,000 student institutions will receive a fair share of the funds.
Gitari asked head of institutions to dedicate their time to students, add value to education system by coming up with strategies that will improve education.
He also advised to desist from duplicating application forms and interchanging names when applying for bursary because they will be disqualified.
Kirinyaga Central Technical and Vocational College Principal Charity Mugo was also in attendance.
