Naikarra Comprehensive Boarding School in Narok County has emerged among the top performers at the ongoing 98th Rift Valley Regional Kenya Music Festival after clinching the top position in the Special Needs Education (SNE) category.
The festival is being held at Top Hill School in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
The school impressed adjudicators with a captivating Maasai traditional folk song and dance that celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Maasai community while showcasing the talents, creativity and abilities of learners with special needs.
Speaking after the victory, Head of Institution Koileken Lolntubu attributed the success to the learners’ hard work, discipline and teamwork, saying the achievement demonstrates what learners with special needs can accomplish when given the right support.
“Our learners have worked tirelessly for this achievement. This victory demonstrates that learners with special needs can excel when they are given the right support, opportunities and encouragement. We are proud to represent Narok County and look forward to the national festival,” said Lolntubu.
He also commended teachers, trainers and parents for their unwavering support throughout the preparation period.
Lolntubu noted that preserving Maasai culture through music and dance remains an integral part of the school’s co-curricular programme.
Eyes on the national stage
Following their regional triumph, the team has qualified for the National Kenya Music Festival and will perform on August 3 at Kabarak University.
The annual Kenya Music Festival provides learners with a platform to nurture creativity, preserve Kenya’s diverse cultural heritage and build confidence through artistic expression.
Lolntubu expressed confidence that the team will continue refining its performance as it prepares to compete against the country’s best schools.
“We are going to continue polishing our performance and give our best at the national festival. Our goal is not only to compete but also to proudly showcase the richness of Maasai culture and the incredible potential of our learners,” he said.

The achievement marks a major milestone for both Naikarra Comprehensive Boarding School and Narok County as they prepare to showcase their talent on the national stage.
