Mwea Technical and Vocational College (TVC) has partnered with Agitech/Mazao Group to strengthen training in agricultural engineering through innovation and technology.

According to college, the partnership aims to equip learners with practical agricultural skills, including modern and profitable farming methods, as well as the effective use of agricultural tools and technologies.

The initiative is designed to prepare graduates for self-employment and entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector.

Guided by its motto, Inspired by Skills, the institution seeks to produce well-rounded graduates capable of creating employment opportunities rather than relying solely on formal jobs.

Speaking at the college, Principal Tabitha Jessee said the institution is equipped with state-of-the-art training facilities that enable learners to acquire industry-relevant competencies.

She noted that students receive practical training based on the specific modules they pursue, with appropriate facilities available for every programme.

Jessee added that the college has also introduced rabbit farming as part of its agribusiness training, providing students with an opportunity to venture into a high-demand enterprise upon graduation.

“We have learners who have ventured into rabbit farming. With the skills they acquire here, they will be able to start their own businesses after graduation. Our goal is to produce graduates who can employ themselves and effectively serve their communities,” she said.

The principal also encouraged prospective learners to take advantage of the institution’s Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme, which assesses and certifies skills acquired through work experience or informal training.

She said assessment fees under the RPL programme vary depending on the training faculty and whether the assessment is conducted on-site or off-site. On-site assessments start from Ksh3,500, with charges differing according to the learner’s area of specialization.
