Mwalimu National DT SACCO has donated Sh1.5 million towards this year’s World Teachers’ Day celebrations scheduled for October 5.
The sponsorship cheque was handed over to Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Chairman Dr Jamleck Muturi and Acting Commission Secretary and Chief Executive Officer Eveleen Mitei on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
Mwalimu National SACCO National Chairman Joel Gachari, accompanied by Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Odhiambo, presented the cheque as part of the SACCO’s support for the annual event.
The SACCO said the contribution was aimed at recognising and celebrating the dedication, resilience and contribution of teachers to Kenya’s education sector and national development. “Mwalimu National is delighted to support the upcoming celebrations and honour the dedication, resilience and impact of educators across the nation,” the SACCO said.

World Teachers’ Day is observed annually on October 5 to recognise the important role teachers play in shaping learners and contributing to national development. The celebrations bring together education stakeholders to acknowledge teachers’ contribution while providing an opportunity to highlight issues affecting the teaching profession.
Mwalimu National SACCO has positioned itself as a financial partner to teachers and other education-sector stakeholders, providing savings, credit and investment services to its members. The Sh1.5 million contribution will support preparations for this year’s celebrations as teachers and education stakeholders across the country prepare to mark the occasion.
