Shinyalu MP Fred Ikana has urged primary school head teachers in the constituency to return geometrical sets to pupils who recently completed their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations.

The MP, who had donated the sets along with food supplies to over 7,000 candidates prior to the exams, expressed concern after reports that some head teachers had instructed students to surrender the sets immediately after the tests.

In response to parental complaints, Ikana emphasized that the geometrical sets were intended for individual learners to assist them during the KCPE exams and throughout their high school studies.

During an inspection of various development projects in the constituency, he affirmed their commitment to ensuring a smooth transition for all candidates to secondary school.

Ikana highlighted ongoing efforts to provide financial support for needy learners through NG-CDF and the Ikana Maendeleo Foundation.

“As part of our transformative agenda for Shinyalu, fostering literacy levels is crucial. We will continue supporting our learners to achieve their academic aspirations,” he stated.

Ikana also revealed plans for the completion of the first phase of constructing eight-classroom storey blocks in six schools by early next year.
