West Mugirango Member of Parliament, Steve Mogaka has asked Kisii University Vice Chancellor (VC) Nathan Ogechi to allow Nyamira Hospital to be used as a teaching facility for Health Science courses.
He said that Kisii University has in the past been offering some of its courses at Nyamira town campus but has since stopped for unknown reasons.

“These campuses brought a lot of benefits in the country because services were brought closer to students and cut the extra education upkeep budget,” he noted.
He appealed to the Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Ogamba to revive the creation of university campuses in towns as a way of decongesting universities.
The MP was addressing the public outside Nyamira High Court.
