Budalangi NG-CDF committee has embarked on construction of new primary and secondary schools to make up for the massive shortfall in the constituency.
The constituency has been having only 9 secondary schools, raising a lot of concerns and compelling education stakeholders and area leadership to come together and chart the way forward.
The move has been lauded by a majority of parents, saying the projects will go a long way in saving their children the ignominy of having to join schools in the neighbouring Siaya County.
The NG-CDF committee has so far constructed two high rise secondary schools, increasing the current number from 9 to 11 as more are planned.
Consequently, in addition to the 42 primary schools that existed, Munani, St Michael Sisenye Mixed and Peter Habenga Okondo primary schools have so far been constructed.
Area legislator Raphael Wanjala’ has assured parents that more schools will be built so as to bring education closer to the people.
“We want to build more new primary and secondary schools in Bunyala Sub-county so as to save our children in primary and secondary schools for trekking long distances in search of schools,” he said.
