Moi Kadzonzo Girls Principal Phanice Achieng has been voted the best gospel singer in Coast region in a national contest held in Nairobi recently.
Rev Achieng expressed joy after winning the Coast region Female Gospel Artist of the Year award during the Kibali Awards held in Nairobi towards the end of December.
She thanked her family and the Moi Kadzonzo school community for standing with her as she pursued her passion and career.
Speaking to the Education News, Rev, phanice said winning the award was not an easy thing and was grateful to her fans, who she said made her scale high in her talent.
She revealed that this was the first time for her to contest in the competition and was surprised to have won the coveted trophy and was quick to thank God for the great achievement.
” I am now more fired up than ever before to go for bigger things in my singing talent. I hope to use my gift to change the society in the best way I can” said an excited Achieng.
She praised the organizers of the event who have stood firm in making the gospel industry shine by appreciating the work of artistes and by setting high standards in the industry.
She also acknowledged her producer,Robert Fix who she said supported her in building her career and for standing with her throughout the season.
The principal who is also an author and a mentor said part of her project is to help needy students and paying school fees for those from vulnerable families.
“I have written 20 twenty songs since I started to minister the word of God, and listening to different speakers who have inspired me and reading a lot of books. I sincerely thank Bishop Geoffrey Mwongera of Word of Healing Restoration Ministry Church for his support and mentorship” Said Achieng.
As a parting shot, she urged aspiring artistes to pursue their passion but not money and that way, she said, you will be rewarded for your gift and you will have a wonderful career ahead of you.
