MoE to connect 100 TVET colleges to solar power in Dec, PS Muoria says

TVET PS Dr. Esther Muoria has instructed institutions to set aside 5% of their budgets for solarization, with 100 colleges selected for Phase One in partnership with Schneider Electric.

Principal Secretary of the State Department of TVET, Dr Esther Muoria, has directed TVET institutions to allocate 5 per cent of their budget to solarisation.

In a letter to TVET principals, the PS indicated that a hundred TVETs have been selected to be part of the Solarisation Project Phase 1.

Dr Muoria stated that the budget allocation is crucial for the successful execution of the solarisation initiative by December 2025.

“You are required to ensure that this matter is discussed and approved by your institution’s council/board and that the budget is appropriated by September 1, 2025,” part of the letter reads.

In partnership with Schneider Electric, an energy analysis has been scheduled at sampled institutions for the months of August and September.

The analysis will help in properly sizing and assessing the load requirements for all one hundred institutions.
