Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, (MMUST) is set to host the second edition of the East Africa University soccer and basketball championship.

The regional tournament, organized by the Federation of Eastern Africa University Sports (FEAUS), is scheduled for September 19–21, 2025 in Kakamega.

The competition will feature both men’s and women’s teams in soccer and basketball, with organizers billing it as a showcase of sporting talent and a platform for regional unity.

“This historic event aims to bring together top university teams from across the East African region to promote unity, sportsmanship, and excellence,” FEAUS said in its announcement.

Universities have until August 29 to confirm participation. Each participant will pay an accreditation fee, while teams will be responsible for their own accommodation and logistics.

The inaugural edition of the championship drew widespread praise for its role in strengthening ties among universities. Expectations are high that this year’s event will attract even more teams and intensify the level of competition.

For three days, Kakamega will turn into the region’s sporting hub, with student-athletes vying not only for trophies but also for regional pride.
