A schoolboy, 10, has succumbed to injuries after he was hit by a trailer along the Isiolo-Meru highway, a few metres past Isiolo town.
The speeding trailer that was driving towards Meru town when it hit the boy while crossing the road, before speeding off.
A scuffle ensued after angry residents questioned why the body had been left on the roadside for more than an hour despite the Traffic Police being in the vicinity.
After intense arguments, the Police were forced to remove the body to Isiolo Referral Hospital, despite concerns that the hospital lacks a functional mortuary.
“You’re Utumishi Kwa Wote, why are you not taking the body?” posed an eye witness.
Elsewhere, Police in Meru have recovered the body of a Form 3 boy who accidentally drowned in a river last Saturday.
The body was found floating in river Kithino in South Imenti after days of an unsuccessful search.
The body was removed to Kanyakine Hospital Mortuary for postmortem as investigations began.
Security officers have cautioned parents against allowing their children to go for recreational activities along rivers.
