Education has the power to transform lives, eradicate poverty and unlock economic opportunities, Tinderet MP Julius Melly said as he called for stronger collaboration among parents, teachers, learners and education stakeholders to improve academic standards.
The National Assembly Education Committee chairperson said quality education remains the greatest investment any community can make for its future.
“The future of our constituency depends on the quality of education we provide to our children today. Every learner who succeeds academically becomes a valuable resource to the family, the community and the nation. Education remains the surest path to transforming lives and creating lasting prosperity,” Melly told the gathering.
Speaking during the Prayer Day and Annual General Meeting at Chebarus Senior School, he urged candidates preparing for national examinations to remain disciplined, focused and committed to achieving their academic goals.
Melly challenged parents to take a leading role in supporting learning by working closely with teachers and providing children with an environment that encourages academic excellence.
He commended teachers for their unwavering dedication, describing them as the backbone of the country’s education system despite the challenges they continue to face.

According to the MP, investments in education should focus not only on classrooms and laboratories but also on equipping learners with innovation, creativity, critical thinking and practical skills needed in a competitive economy.
“When our young people acquire quality education and practical skills, they become innovators, professionals, entrepreneurs and responsible citizens capable of driving economic growth. That is why investing in education is ultimately an investment in the future prosperity of our constituency,” he said.
Melly said NG-CDF continues to support schools through infrastructure development and bursaries for vulnerable students, ensuring more learners have access to quality education regardless of their economic background.
He also encouraged students to embrace technical and vocational education alongside university programmes to build a workforce capable of supporting industrialisation and economic growth.
The legislator praised President William Ruto’s commitment to improving the education sector through ongoing reforms and urged residents to rally behind the President for a second term.
Religious leaders called on learners to remain steadfast in prayer as they pursue academic excellence, while the school administration and parents expressed gratitude for continued support towards improving learning facilities, saying the investments have created a better environment for teaching and learning.
