Medicine gets the highest number of students in university placement -KUCCPS

The Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery has received the highest number of top students selected to pursue courses in the university.

According to the data from the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), 454 students who scored grade A in the last year’s KCSE exams selected Medicine and Surgery courses.

Pharmacy and Computer Science courses are the second and third highest most preferred courses with 111 and 90 students set to be admitted for the courses respectively.

Others include Architectural Studies and Architecture with 61 students, Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering 54, and Electrical and Electronic Engineering 52 students.

Dental Surgery will admit 39, Nursing 34, Clinical Medicine 33 and Aeronautical Engineering 29 admissions to close the top 10 courses selected by the A graders.

Bachelor of Law and Mechatronic Engineering will each admit 26 of the top performers; while Mechanical Engineering will have 21 of the top performers.

Nursing and Public Health (15) Bachelor of Radiography (13), Software Engineering (10), Quantity Survey (5) while Biomedical Engineering and Microbiology and Biotechnology will each get 4 students.

At the same time, the University of Nairobi will be admitting the highest number of students who score grade A as they will be admitting 418 students; whistle Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) will take the second highest number, 264 students.

Kenyatta University will admit 151 of the A-graders, followed by Moi University with 71 and Egerton University with 58 students to close the gap as the top five institutions that will be hosting the top students of last year’s national examinations.

A total of 1,152 students scored A in last year’s KCSE examinations.
