Matungulu sub-county has allocated Ksh52 million for Education Fund bursaries from the NG-CDF kitty for needy students in secondary schools, middle-level colleges and universities.

Speaking during a burial ceremony of the late Joseph Mutwiwa at Nguluni Village, area MP Stephen Mule said that the bursaries will ensure that learners from humble backgrounds do not interrupt their education over lack of school fees.

Mule said that his office has prioritized education as a pillar of development and it has decided to gradually increase the amount being disbursed annually to accommodate the increasing number of students in the area.

He noted that the beneficiaries will be vigorously screened by a committee from each ward to ensure only deserving students benefit.

“We intend to increase the number of beneficiaries of the scholarship programme because we recognize education as a key pillar to the realization of our development goals as well as the country’s Vision 2030,” he said.

Mule urged parents to invest more in their children’s education; and also called on teachers, students, parents and sponsors to each chip in and contribute towards registering better academic performance.
