Maseno Vocational Training Centre (VTC) delivered a stellar performance at the 63rd Kenya National Drama and Film Festivals, successfully defending their national title in the Modern Dance category.
The event, held in Nakuru County, brought together top talent from across the country.
Maseno’s captivating dance piece titled “String of Passion” earned a spot among the select performances scheduled for a high-profile State Concert at the Nakuru State Lodge, which will be graced by President William Samoei Ruto.
The triumph was part of a broader show of strength from Vihiga County, which sponsored six VTCs to participate in the festival.
The institutions included Maseno, Mudete, Mwambeba, Boyani, Gimomoi, and St. Peter’s Hambale together staging a total of 14 performances.

Vihiga County Executive Committee Member for Education, Dr. Ruth Agesa, praised the learners’ efforts and underlined the role of co-curricular activities in the VTC curriculum.
“These festivals are not just about competition; they nurture creativity, discipline, and teamwork all vital elements in vocational education,” Dr. Agesa said.
Chief Officer for Education, Dominic Luvavo, reaffirmed the county’s support for arts and performance programs in VTCs, describing them as instrumental in enhancing learner outcomes and holistic development.
Directors Charles Avedi (TVET), Victor Serede (ECDE), and several program officers from the department were also present to support the teams.
The Kenya National Drama and Film Festivals continue to be a critical platform for showcasing and nurturing creative talent among youth, with Vihiga County once again emerging as a cultural powerhouse.
