- Makueni County has awarded full sponsorships to 88 bright and needy students joining universities.
- Fourteen of the beneficiaries scored Grade A in the 2025 national examinations.
- The county has urged beneficiaries to remain focused and avoid peer pressure while at university.
The County Government of Makueni has awarded 88 students full sponsorship to join different universities in the country.
Speaking during the event held in Wote town, County Executive Committee Member for ICT, Education and Internship Japheth Mang’oka noted that the students joined the sponsorship programme in 2022, completed their national examinations in 2025 and were fully sponsored by the county government.
“They are bright but needy students who the county saw the need to sponsor. Out of the 88, 14 of them scored Grade A. I call upon our students to put more effort even in university and keep off peer pressure to remain focused. Their parents and the county are looking upon them,” Mang’oka said.
County commits to education
He added that the county is committed to investing in education and changing the lives of the less fortunate, among others.

However, he called upon those who did not manage to qualify for university to join County Technical Training Institutes (CTTIs) and other technical and vocational colleges for skills, adding that no grade should go to waste.
