Makueni Deputy Governor calls for youth talent nurturing at MKJ Supa Cup finals

Makueni County Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili has called for nurturing the learners’ talents from their first day of school.

Mulili was speaking while flagging off the MKJ Supa Cup (Mutula Kilonzo junior) supa cup Finals, where she noted that different talents will be identified and nurtured or referred where necessary.

The initiative is aimed at nurturing talents.

“We are addressing youths agenda. Sports is one way of engaging our youths and keeping them away from society’s vices. Idling around makes them engage in vices,” Mulili said.

He was accompanied by Makueni Sports Executive Committee Member Engineer Sebastian Kyoni, who noted that the competition is strictly for youths between 18 and 23 years old.

The youths must not have participated in elite competitions or any elite clubs.

Kyoni added that there are 72 teams across six disciplines.

Tough contest

The six disciplines are football, volleyball, three-by-3 basketball, five-by-five basketball, beach volleyball, and beach handball.
