Machakos School has emerged as the overall winner in the Machakos School Mathematics Contest 2026 held over the weekend, outperforming 39 other secondary schools from across the region.
According to the overall rankings released after the competition, Machakos School topped the contest with an average score of 12.4400, followed closely by St. Charles Lwanga in second position with 12.3000, while Makueni Boys came third with 11.4667.
Matungulu Girls and Kisasi Secondary School from Kitui County completed the top five positions.
The host school further stamped its authority on the competition by bagging six of the 40 trophies awarded during the highly competitive mathematics challenge.
Speaking after the victory, Chief Principal Rev. Benson Manoo, who is also a mathematician, hailed the students and teachers for their hard work, discipline, and commitment to academic excellence.

“This performance is a reflection of dedication, teamwork, and a strong mathematics culture in the school. We are proud of our students for emerging as the best among 40 schools and for showing that consistency and hard work truly pay,” said Rev. Manoo.
The annual mathematics contest attracted schools from Machakos and neighbouring Makueni and Kitui counties, with participants competing in various mathematical problem-solving categories.
