Machakos lawyers condemn murder of colleague Kyalo Mbobu

The legal fraternity in Machakos has joined colleagues across Kenya in condemning the brutal murder of lawyer Kyalo Mbobu, urging swift investigations and an end to rising insecurity.

The Legal Fraternity in Machakos has joined their colleagues across the country in condemning the heinous murder of Lawyer Kyalo Mbobu and called for the speedy arrest of the culprits.

Led by Senior Counsel Richard Matata and James Kathili, the advocates said the murder pointed to a state of escalating insecurity in the country and called for an end to the trend.

The lawyers who converged outside Machakos Law Courts also called for an end to speculation about the cause of his murder, but added that it would be very unfortunate if Mr Mbobu was killed because of the work he was doing.

“We send our condolences to the family of our late colleague Kyalo Mbobu who comes from this region so he is one of us,” said Matata.

He said murders in the country had become commonplace.

“An end must be brought to these murders. Every morning we wake up to news that someone has been murdered. It is saddening,”he added.

He said speculation that the lawyer could have been killed because of debts should not be reason for one to lose his life adding that ‘we are all in debts.’

His colleague Mr Kathili said no one had a right to take someone’s life.

He said if it was true that Mr Mbobu could have been killed because of debts, then all those who had loaned him should be treated as persons of interest.

He read malice in the timing of the media reports on Mr Mbobu’s alleged debts and called on the Media support investigations to unravel the truth.

Lawyer Mutava Musyoki said if the matter was about debts there’s a way in which debts are recovered and murder was not one of them.

He said the legal fraternity will ensure nothing was spared to unravel the murder of Mr Kyalo Mbobu.
