Long-serving KUPPET Bungoma Executive Secretary, Augustine Luketero, has officially announced his retirement after 15 years at the helm, marking the end of a distinguished chapter in the county’s teachers’ union leadership.

Speaking to teachers in Bungoma, Luketero expressed deep gratitude for the support he has received since assuming office.

Now aged 64, he noted that although his passion for service remains strong, his energy has naturally diminished over the years, prompting him to hand over leadership to a new generation.

“I want to sincerely thank each one of you for the trust, support, and cooperation you have given me throughout my service. It has been an honour and a blessing to represent you and to fight for the welfare of teachers in Bungoma,” he said.

During his tenure, Luketero became a central figure in advocating for teachers’ rights, promoting unity within the union, and strengthening KUPPET’s influence in the region.

His leadership has often been credited with shaping a more cohesive and assertive teachers’ movement in Bungoma.

As he exited the stage, Luketero urged members to remain steadfast and committed to the union’s progress.

Luketero now leaves office as Outgoing Executive Secretary of the KUPPET Bungoma Branch, closing a notable chapter in the union’s history.

This means the Bungoma branch will have a new Executive Secretary after the union polls next year.
