The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has moved to reassure its members amid growing anxiety over the notice for the 2026 union elections, stating that the matter is already before the court and awaiting determination.

In a circular dated December 8, 2025, Secretary General Akelo Misori said the National Executive Board (NEB) had taken note of concerns raised by members following the issuance of the election notice and the union’s amended constitution.

According to the NEB, all issues touching on the notice and the constitutional amendments are currently under judicial consideration, meaning they can only be addressed within a courtroom and not through internal debate.

The union further clarified that previous communication regarding the election process remains valid.

Misori added that the court is expected to deliver its judgment within the month, after which KUPPET will formally communicate the outcome to its membership.

He called on members to exercise patience, remain calm, and await the court’s final decision. The notice was also copied to the Registrar of Trade Unions.
