The Kenya Universities and Colleges Placement Service (KUCCPS) has added several highly competitive new courses to its portal, which are now available for selection during the current revision period.

During the second KUCCPS webinar on Wednesday, May 20, John Oluoch, the Director for Placement and Career Development, announced that several highly competitive courses have been restored to the portal. This offers a second chance to students who originally missed out on securing a spot.

“But I also need to clarify that you could check, maybe there are new programmes recently approved and have been uploaded into the system, so they might not necessarily be filled up,” said Oluoch.

The update follows concerns from students who could not find certain programmes on the portal and questioned why they were missing during the revision period.

According to the placement service, these courses were initially removed after reaching full capacity. The affected courses include highly competitive programmes like nursing, medicine, pharmacy, and engineering, which traditionally draw the most applicants.

KUCCPS, however, pointed out that several highly competitive courses are still unavailable, while others are already completely full. With the deadline fast approaching, unplaced students are encouraged to apply for alternative programmes.

“If you are not able to view a programme when you search, either by institution or by name during the period of revision, then you know that those programmes have filled up, and once filled up, we archive them,” said Oluoch.

He further advised applicants against manually scrolling, as the large number of listed programmes can make the process difficult and time-consuming.

“What you do is search for that programme of your choice, or of your desire, by name and if it is available, you will see the institutions or universities that are offering it, and then you can make your selection from there,” said Oluoch.

Students who have not yet revised their choices were advised to do so before window closes on Friday, May 22.
