KPEA to replace KCPE as CBC takes over

By Allan Kibet

Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) will soon be replaced by Kenya Primary Education Assessment (KPEA) which will be administered under the Competence Based Curriculum (CBS) that is currently being implemented in schools.

This revelation was disclosed by the Chairman of Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), John Onsati, who added that KPEA will begin when the school calendar returns to normalcy later this year after Standard 8 candidates sit their KCPE. Onsati said this during the release of KCSE examination results on April 23.

“We want to inform Teachers Service Commission (TSC) that KNEC will be administering the Kenya Primary Education Assessment Grade 6 summative assessment at the end of the year,” said Onsati.
