The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has assured its members that it will continue engaging with the government on matters affecting its members.
The Secretary General, Collins Oyuu, said such discussions will focus on pressing for their rights.
Oyuu said the current atmosphere is conducive to continuous engagements with the government.
Speaking at Awasi PAG grounds during the Nyando KNUT Annual General Meeting, Oyuu said the union has already discussed a raft of issues with President William Ruto, which will be addressed moving forward.

Oyuu said some of the issues include the timely release and increase in capitation funds.
The official, who was accompanied by other national officials, said trainee teachers who have stayed out for years will be accorded first priority.
Oyuu said the Teachers Service Commission should now consider establishing wellness centres for its employees.
He said the government will also consider employing more teachers in the wake of the biting staff shortages.
KNUT national second vice chairman Aggrey Namisi said those who abandoned the union at its hour of need are well known.
He said members even refused to contest for various positions in 2021 since the outfit was broke.
“Some of us went for thirty months without pay,” he said.
