Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Kisii South Branch Executive Secretary Jared Mariera has affirmed that there will be national-wide protests for teachers if the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) fails to fully implement the second phase of Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) 2021-2025.

Mariera while speaking recently during the Female Teachers’ Empowerment meeting at the Sub-County revealed that teachers will down their tools when schools resume for third term if the government fails to honour the CBA.

“Our leaders have taught us that the best language understand is protesting and we shall use it to demand our rights unless they honour the CBA 2021-2025,” He said.

He wondered why the TSC was taking too long to promote teachers who have been stagnant to one job Grade for many years despite them attaining the requirements for the same.

At the same time, KNUT Gucha Branch Executive Secretary Lucy Machuki, urged female teachers across the country not to shy off from contesting high ranking seats in unions as well as in the political scene.
