KNUT emphasizes release of capitation funds to schools

Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Executive Secretary Malel Langat

The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has emphasized the critical need for an augmented and punctual release of capitation funds to schools.

Addressing the press, the First Vice National Chair of KNUT Malel Langat underscored the significance of these funds in facilitating the timely completion of school projects and programs.

He expressed concern over past delays, citing their adverse impact on learning activities.

“The government must increase and promptly release capitation funds to ensure seamless learning. As a union, we cannot tolerate future delays,” Langat stated.

He further decried the prevalent under-staffing in public schools, particularly at Junior Secondary levels.

Despite recent teacher recruitment, Langat emphasized the need for additional hires to address the shortage adequately.

Additionally, the union acknowledged and supported ongoing efforts to transform the country’s education system.
