The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Transmara Branch has condemned in the strongest terms the brutal killing of a Grade 9 pupil from Enkoiperian Comprehensive School in Angata Barrikoi Ward, Transmara South Sub-County, in Narok County early Wednesday morning.

According to reports, the young girl was on her way to school to sit for the ongoing national examinations when she was attacked and killed by unknown assailants.

The incident has sent shockwaves across the local community, sparking outrage and renewed calls for enhanced security in learning institutions and surrounding villages.

Branch Executive Secretary Willy Korir described the incident as “heartbreaking and inhumane,” urging police to move swiftly and apprehend the perpetrators.

“This is a disturbing and painful loss. A young life has been cut short in a senseless manner. We demand swift action from the police to ensure that  those responsible face the full force of the law,” said Korir.

Korir further appealed to parents, community elders, and local administrators to work closely with security agencies to ensure learners are protected, especially during the examination period.

He also called on the Ministry of Education to provide counseling support to the affected school community.

Residents of Angata Barrikoi have expressed fear following the killing, citing rising insecurity in the area.

Local leaders have since urged the government to increase patrols and deploy more officers to ensure the safety of students and teachers.

The body of the deceased was taken to a Kilgoris mortuary as police launched investigations into the incident.
