Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has released a full list of schools Grade 6 learners are to choose from in their selection of Junior Secondary Schools at Grade 7 (see full list below).
The Council has also laid down the procedure Grade 6 learners should follow while selecting Junior Secondary Schools.
KNEC uploaded a list of JSSs into their portal www.cba.knec.ac.ke .
Teachers presenting candidates for the 2022 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) have been advised to use the school’s credentials (username and password) to access the list of schools and guide learners to select their school choices for JSS.
Once logged into the CBA Portal, teachers will be required to click on the icon “Grade 6”, then select “register learner”, then thereafter click on the “secondary school choices” button appearing next to a learner’s name to key in his/her choices.
Each learner is expected to select: two National schools, two Regional schools, two County schools, four sub county schools and two private junior schools. Parents are expected to meet the cost of education in private schools.
KNEC Chief Executive Officer David Njeng’ere says inquiries on JSS that are missing or ought to have been included in the KNEC portal should be directed to the County Directors of Education through the Sub County Directors of Education for guidance.
The portal, that was opened on Monday August 15, will remain open until Tuesday August 30 and all teachers are urged to adhere to the deadline.
The key considerations and requirements for selection and placement of learners in JSS in 2023 include placement in all existing registered public and private secondary schools, Public secondary schools which share a compound with a public primary school which will utilize the available classroom(s) in the primary school as additional learning space.
