The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has extended the deadline for schools to upload the 2026 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) School-Based Assessment (SBA) and project scores.
In a notice to heads of institutions, KNEC said the uploading period has been extended to September 30, 2026, giving schools more time to ensure that all required scores are submitted.
The council urged heads of institutions to take advantage of the extension and complete the uploading of scores for all candidates within the revised deadline. “Please take the opportunity to ensure that all scores for the candidates are uploaded,” KNEC said in the notice.
The council also directed schools to indicate “AB” for candidates who were absent when entering the assessment records.
The extension is expected to give institutions that had not completed the process additional time to finalise the submission of the required SBA and project scores.

KNEC administers national assessments under Kenya’s Competency-Based Education framework, with school-based assessments forming part of the process of tracking learners’ progress and competencies.
Heads of institutions have therefore been urged to ensure that the records submitted are complete and accurately reflect the performance and participation of candidates ahead of the September 30 deadline.

The latest directive comes as schools continue to undertake various assessment activities under the competency-based curriculum, with accurate and timely submission of scores remaining a key requirement in the national assessment process.
