Kitale Poly reclaims title in regional sports tournament

Kitale Poly Volleyball team, the champs of Rift-Valley Regionals after winning the third title.

The Kitale National Polytechnic hockey team continued its dominance by retaining the hockey title after defeating Eldoret Polytechnic 1-0 in the finals of the Rift Valley Polytechnic Championships held at Kitale.

In the first match, Kitale National Polytechnic beat RVTTI 1-0, showcasing their skills under head coach John Akola. In the women’s hockey final, Kitale Polytechnic also triumphed over RVTTI with a score of 2-0 after a strong performance.

In handball, Kitale Polytechnic secured the title for the second consecutive year by defeating Eldoret Polytechnic 14-8. In the women’s handball final, Eldoret triumphed over RVTTI with a score of 23-8, being crowned champions.

For volleyball, Kitale Polytechnic won against Eldama Ravine, taking the match 3-1 with set scores of 25-19, 22-25, 25-23, and 25-20 in the final held at Kitale Polytechnic.

Under coach Luke Sifuma, the Kitale boys displayed exceptional skill, defeating Kipkebus 3-0 in the first semifinal with set scores of 25-16, 25-18, and 25-22. In the second semifinal, Eldama Ravine beat Baringo 3-1 (29-27, 25-18, 17-25, 25-20), while Baringo faced a tough defeat against Kipkebus, losing 3-0 with set scores of 25-0, 25-0, and 25-0.

After the finals, head coach John Akola praised his team for ensuring the trophies remained at home and encouraged them to continue working hard in sports as they prepare for next year’s competitions.
