Kisumu Central NGCDF to put up new girls school to replace elevated Kisumu Girls

Kisumu Central MP Dr Joshua Oron (in white shirt). He has revealed plans to construct a girls school to replace the elevated Kisumu Girls.

Kisumu Central NGCDF is set to construct a new multi-million girls secondary school in the area, with the tender being floated this month after which work will begin.

Area Member of Parliament Dr Joshua Oron said the project will be done in phases and is expected to be a game changer in girls education.

Oron said the project was necessitated by the conversion of Kisumu Girls High School into a national institution and will be a model one in the area to fill the gap that was left by that elevation.

The MP was speaking at Lions High School in Kisumu where he officially opened a Ksh16 million eight-classroom complex which was funded by the NGCDF.

He said the project took nine months to complete and has been undertaken according to specifications.

Oron said the girls school will cater for students from Kisumu Central and its environs, pointing out that at the moment they do not have a day girls secondary school.

Dr Oron said a number of projects are at the moment going on in schools across the constituency, revealing that he has lined up a total of 20 projects for the financial year 2024/2025.
