Kisii School once again are Nyanza champions in Rugby 15s

Kisii School has again emerged the county Rugby 15s champions after walloping Cardinal Otunga Mosocho on their home ground the second year running.

In the quarter finals, Kerongori slumped into a 47:00 defeat to Cardinal Otunga Mosocho, but fell to Kisii School 51:03 in the finals.

Staford Nyambane made the second impressive try for his team to bundle their rivals out after Morgan Ochiel scored the first try.

Other tries were made by Trinny Wabuche, Dickson Ongoro and Chaz Francis to beat Cardinal Otunga into submission.

In some of the memorable results in the preliminaries, Kisii School had humbled Itiero 47:00, Cardinal Otunga Mosocho smashed Kerongorori 30:00 and Moi Gesusu of Masaba South 47:00, while Rioma of Kisii Central drew 05:05 with Nyabohgena of Gucha South.

The 3-day secondary school sports competitions that were flagged off by Kisii County Quality Assurance and Standards officer Adenya Mayodi attracted winners from the 11 sub-counties in the area.

Kisii County Director of Education Philip Chirchir thanked Cardinal Otunga Chief Principal Albert Ombiro for hosting a highly competitive tournament successfully.

“From what I have seen in the good organization of this school, I am confident we are going to host the national sports here successfully,” he said.

According to Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Kisii chapter Branch Chairman Fred Mogaka, Principal Kisii School, the winning teams will proceed to regionals to be held in Kisumu County from 19th of this month.
