Mariakani Assistant Chief, Nelson Kenga Kalume

Parents in Kaloleni sub-county, Kilifi county have been urged to enroll their children who sat for KCSE examinations but could not proceed to university in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

He said that their admission will help them acquire various technical skills to either boost their employability or employ themselves.

Speaking during a public meeting at Njoro village in Mariakani town recently, Mariakani Assistant Chief Nelson Kenga Kalume lamented that many youth in the sub-county were loitering and idling at the expense of their future.

Kalume further urged TVET stakeholders in the area to create awareness and sensitize local youth to encourage them to join the institutions in large numbers.

“TVET institutions play an important role in preparing the society and the youth for their future,” he noted.
