The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) has been recognized as the best-performing state corporation in the country after clinching the State Corporations Productivity Award during the National Productivity and Performance Awards 2026.

The prestigious award, which celebrates excellence in performance, innovation, productivity, and service delivery across public institutions, was presented by President Dr. William Samoei Ruto during a national ceremony attended by senior government officials, corporate leaders, and development partners.

KICD Chief Executive Officer and Director, Prof. Charles Ong’ondo, received the award on behalf of the institution, marking a significant milestone in the institute’s efforts to enhance the quality and relevance of education in Kenya.

The recognition underscores KICD’s commitment to developing innovative curricula, learning resources, and educational programmes that support the country’s education reforms and national development agenda.

Speaking after receiving the award, Prof. Ong’ondo lauded the dedication of KICD staff and stakeholders whose collective efforts have contributed to the institute’s success. He noted that the achievement reflects the institution’s unwavering focus on excellence, efficiency, and continuous improvement in service delivery.

“This award is a testament to the hard work, commitment, and professionalism demonstrated by our staff and partners. It motivates us to continue delivering quality curriculum services that meet the needs of learners and the nation,” he said.

Winning the State Corporations Productivity Award places KICD among the leading public institutions driving transformation and excellence in Kenya’s public sector.
