Kibabii University sets date for Ipara to hand over VC’s office to Makhanu

Kibabii University has announced the date for the official handover of its Vice-Chancellor’s office, paving the way for a new chapter in the institution’s leadership.

According to an internal memo issued by the Office of the Registrar (Academic Affairs) on July 24, 2026, Prof Isaac Ipara Odeo will officially hand over the Office of the Vice-Chancellor to Prof Makhanu Sibilikhe during a ceremony scheduled for July 28, 2026.

The event will take place at the University Senate Boardroom from 10:00 a.m., bringing together students, staff and members of the university community to witness the leadership transition.

The memo invites students and members of staff to attend the ceremony, which marks a significant leadership transition at the institution.

“The official handing over ceremony of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor from Prof. Ipara to Prof. Makhanu Sibilikhe will take place on July 28, 2026,” the memo states.

University management has called on members of the institution to uphold peace, unity and professionalism throughout the transition period.

The change of guard comes days after Kibabii University bid farewell to Ipara, its first Vice-Chancellor.

Ipara has been at the helm of the university since 2016, having previously served as acting Vice-Chancellor and Principal of Kibabii University College.

During his tenure, the institution expanded its academic programmes, research activities, partnerships and infrastructure.

Sibilikhe set to take over

The handover to Sibilikhe will usher in a new administration at the university as the institution enters its next phase of development.

Students, staff, university leaders and other stakeholders are expected to attend the official handover ceremony at the Senate Boardroom.

The ceremony will formally mark the transition from Ipara’s administration to the new leadership.
