Kericho teaching fraternity mourns ‘Fearless Kwach’ teacher Geoffrey Langat

The teaching fraternity in Kericho County is mourning the sudden death of Mwalimu Geoffrey Kipkirui Langat, a dedicated teacher at Teianet Junior School, who passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026.

According to a condolence message released by the Kericho branch of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), Langat was widely known among colleagues and learners as “Fearless Kwach” due to his commitment and passion for education.

KUPPET described the late teacher as a hardworking and professional educator who consistently went beyond the call of duty in serving learners and the school community.

The union noted that his dedication, diligence and unwavering commitment to education earned him the respect of students, fellow teachers and members of the wider community.

In its tribute, the union said Langat played a significant role in shaping the lives of many learners through his exemplary service and mentorship.

His death has left a void not only at Teianet Junior School but also within the larger teaching fraternity in Kericho County.

The union extended its heartfelt condolences to the staff and learners of Teianet Junior School, Langat’s family, friends and colleagues during this difficult period.

Funeral arrangements

Funeral arrangements released by the family indicate that a fundraising meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, to support burial preparations.

The funeral service and burial are scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Kiburet Primary School in Ainamoi Ward, Ainamoi Sub-County.

As mourners continue to pay tribute, colleagues have remembered Langat as a selfless teacher who dedicated his life to nurturing young minds and promoting academic excellence.
