The Principal of Kericho National Polytechnic, Mr Shadrack Tonui, has been elected the new Chairperson of the Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI).
Mr Tonui, who previously served as the Association’s Secretary General, takes over the leadership from Dr David M. Mwangi, the Principal of Nyeri National Polytechnic.
KATTI is a professional body established in 1997 to coordinate and promote the interests of technical training institutions across the country.
The Association provides a platform for member institutions to identify common challenges, share best practices and develop strategies aimed at strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Kenya.

In a congratulatory message shared on its official social media platforms, Kericho National Polytechnic described Mr Tonui’s election as a significant milestone that reflects his unwavering dedication, exemplary service and immense contribution to the growth and advancement of the TVET sector.
“Your leadership journey speaks eloquently—from a passionate advocate for technical and vocational education, to a distinguished Secretary General, and now to the esteemed office of Chairperson,” the statement read.
The institution further reaffirmed its full support for Mr Tonui’s leadership, noting that Kericho National Polytechnic stands in solidarity with KATTI and all TVET institutions in the collective effort to unlock the full potential of technical training for national development.
