Kaya Tiwi seek to retain girls’ basketball trophy at regional championships

Focus will shift this weekend to the Coast Regional school games that will be played in various fields in Malindi.

Former national champions Kaya Tiwi from Kwale are set to face Taita Taveta champions Mwasere and Ngala Girls in pool A while Agha Khan Academy, Matuga and St John’s Kaloleni will fight it out in pool B. In the boys basketball, former National champions Dr. Aggrey will battle it out with Agha Khan Academy from Mombasa, Mvindeni and Chanagande in pool A. Pool B will have hosts Barani and Malindi facing off with Timbila and Kaya Tiwi.

The rugby competitions will have new entrants as Oda, Timbila and Marafa face off in Pool A alongside Shimba Hills.  In the other pool, Shimo la Tewa,Waa and Dr Aggrey will battle it out with Kilifi representatives Lutsangani. Kwale High have missed this edition after they were bundled out at the county level.

In Malindi High where handball will take place, Mwangea from Taita Taveta will be facing a tough challenge as they fight for the crown in pool B against Mvindeni, Menzamwenye and Tsangatsini. Pool A will see an experienced side Jaribuni face off with Ndura, Waa and Katana Ngala from Kilifi.

This year’s games will take place on March 20-23 with Malindi High also hosting the Athletics Championship.
