Kapsabet High candidate wins Ksh3.5M after topping math contest

Kapsabet

A form four student at Kapsabet High School in Nandi County is on top of the world after he won Ksh3.5 million in sponsorship following a series of secondary schools math contests.

Kelvin Kemboi was the top student in the contest which was held at the institution on Saturday. It was open to all students across the country and attracted over 4,000 students.

The enormous prize means that Kemboi will have an opportunity to study at any school of his choice abroad in Australia.

According to Oliver Toroitich, his teacher, Kemboi will not stop there but will be the top student in the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations to be held later in the year.

“It’s important to note that Kemboi won the same award in 2022 after beating all students while still in Form 3. We expect him to perform so well,” Toroitich said.

The theme of the competition was “Creating a Learning Avenue and to Showcase Skills That Include Confidence and Critical Thinking.”
