Kakamega governor joins bicycle ride to raise funds for needy

Kakamega County Governor Fernades Barasa recently joined KCA University in a charity bicycle ride at Muliro Gardens to raise funds to help needy children.

Speaking during the event, Barasa said the ride will assist needy students in payment of fees and continue to learn.

Governor Barasa lauded the visitors from KCA University who had travelled all the way from Nairobi to attend  the event.

The programme, which was started by the university, was termed a good initiative.

The governor disclosed that the government has disbursed Ksh240 million to support students  in secondary schools with bursaries.

Barasa, who once served as a board member at KCA University, marketed the institution to residents of Kakamega, saying it offers very competitive accountancy courses.
