The Kakamega Central Championship—2025 football tournament kicks off this Saturday. Over 20 secondary schools battled for glory under the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) banner.
Held across three pitches—Rugby, Mabao, and Bukhulunya—the event showcases the region’s rising football talent and school spirit.
The championship has attracted a rich lineup of teams grouped into four pools:
Pool A: Eshisiru, Maraba, Indangalasia, and Ikonyero
Pool B: Shikoti Mixed, Mwangaza, Ebwabwa, and Township
Pool C: Ematetie, Matioli, Mwiyala, Elukho, and Sir Henry
Pool D: Kakamega High, Esokone, Rosterman, Eshibeye, and Shieywe
This year’s competition features a robust group stage format, with teams divided into four pools. Notable contenders include Kakamega High, Shikoti Mixed, Ematetie, Rosterman, and Eshisiru.
Each pool—A through D—will see intense round-robin matchups over two days.
Early action will be seen on day one, with Mwiyala, Elukho, Kakamega, and Shikoti Mixed securing strong starts across their respective pitches. Fans witnessed thrilling matchups like Mwiyala vs. Elukho and Kakamega vs. Shieywe, with more critical fixtures set for Sunday.
