Kabete Polytechnic hosts International Research Conference to advance TVET transformation

  • Kabete National Polytechnic has opened its 4th International Research Conference and Expo, bringing together educators, industry players, innovators, and students under the theme “Transforming TVET in Kenya.”
  • The three-day event focuses on promoting innovation, skills development, and stronger industry linkages to position TVET as a key driver of economic growth and youth employment.

Kabete National Polytechnic has underscored the critical role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in preparing Kenya’s workforce for an increasingly dynamic global economy during the opening of its 4th International Research Conference, Skills Competition, Innovation, Career Guidance and Expo.

The three-day event, themed “Transforming TVET in Kenya,” has brought together educators, researchers, industry players, innovators, students, and secondary school learners seeking career guidance and exposure to emerging opportunities in the labour market.

Speaking during the official opening ceremony on Wednesday, Chief Principal Patrick Muchemi urged students to take full advantage of the forum by exploring career opportunities, engaging with trainers and industry professionals, and gaining valuable insights into modern technical and vocational education.

The conference features research presentations, innovation exhibitions, skills competitions, career mentorship forums, and industry showcases designed to strengthen collaboration between training institutions and employers.

Organisers said the event aims to promote innovation, practical skills development, and stronger industry linkages while supporting the government’s broader agenda of positioning the TVET sector as a key driver of economic growth, industrial development, and youth employment.

The expo is expected to attract thousands of students, educators, and stakeholders over the three-day period, providing a platform for knowledge exchange, career exploration, and the exhibition of innovations developed by trainees across various technical disciplines.
