- Schools from Rift Valley, Nyanza, Western and Coast regions dominate the finals across football, volleyball, handball, netball and basketball.
- Champions in both primary and junior school categories will be crowned after a day of high-stakes competition.
The stage is set for a thrilling conclusion to the 2026 Kenya Primary and Junior Schools Sports Association (KPJSSA) National Games as finalists battle for top honours on Thursday, August 6, in Thika, Kiambu County.
The national championships, hosted at Thika High School and nearby competition fields, will feature title-deciding matches in football, volleyball, handball, netball and basketball for both primary and junior school categories.
Rift Valley, Nyanza and Western regions dominate the finals programme, underlining their strength across multiple disciplines, while Coast Region will also be represented in the junior girls’ football final.
Junior girls’ football will see Coast Region champions Shika Adabu face Western Region’s Kakamega Hill at 11.00 a.m. on Field A.
In the junior boys’ final, Rift Valley champions Monire will take on Nyanza’s Nyabondo at 9.00 a.m. on Field A at Thika High School.
The primary boys’ football crown will be contested by Nyanza and Rift Valley from 11.00 a.m. on Field B at Thika High School, while the primary girls’ final pits Rift Valley against Nyanza at 9.00 a.m. on Field B.
Volleyball, handball and netball champions to be crowned
Volleyball fans will witness an exciting junior girls’ final between Rift Valley’s Soin and Western Region’s Khaunga at 9.00 a.m. on Field A. The junior boys’ title will be contested by Nyanza’s Othora and Rift Valley’s Bishop Muge at 11.00 a.m.
In the primary category, Rift Valley will face Nyanza in the boys’ final, while the primary girls’ championship will see Rift Valley take on Western Region.
Handball will also produce new national champions. Western Region’s Kimilili FYM will meet Rift Valley’s Nabunga in the junior girls’ final, while Nabunga returns to the court for the junior boys’ final against Nyanza’s Assar.
The primary boys’ handball final features Western against Nyanza, while Nyanza will face Rift Valley in the primary girls’ championship.
In netball, Nyanza’s Matagaro will battle Rift Valley’s Kissawai in the junior girls’ final before Kissawai returns to face Nyanza’s Anding’o Pala in the junior boys’ title match.
The primary boys’ final will see Rift Valley play Nyanza, while Nyanza and Western will contest the primary girls’ championship.
Basketball crowns also up for grabs
Basketball will complete the day’s programme with two junior school finals.
Western Region’s St John RC will meet Nyanza’s Magadi in the junior girls’ final at 9.00 a.m., while Rift Valley’s The Wells will face Nyanza’s The Shelter in the junior boys’ championship at 11.00 a.m.

According to the official fixtures released by KPJSSA, all junior school matches across every discipline will be played on Field A, while all primary school matches will be staged on Field B, with most events taking place at Thika High School. The fixtures were released by KPJSSA Secretary General Diana Wambua.
