The Board of Management (BoM) and parents of Isiolo Boys’ High School earlier today barred the newly appointed principal from accessing his office, citing poor performance of the schools he has led.

The board has firmly decided against collaborating with the new principal due to concerns over reported dismal performance of several schools he previously worked.

Mohamed Boru, the BoM chairman, and Ismail Galma, the Parents Teachers’ Association (PTA) chairman, led a group that barricaded the principal’s office, declaring they would not allow him to assume duties until the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) appoints a different head.

They contended that parents in several schools across different counties had previously rejected the newly appointed principal.

Salesio Kiambi, the Wabera MCA, criticized TSC for ignoring their concerns.

“It was ill advised for the Teachers Service Commission to give a deaf ear to the complaints made by the board of management and parents, and go ahead to post the teacher who the major stakeholders had clearly rejected,” he said.

Parents were unhappy about the timing of transferring both the principal and his deputy, especially since national examinations are just a few months away.

The parents and board members pledged to prevent the “unaccepted” principal from assuming office, stating they would protest on the streets if the commission disregards their request.
