Michelle Britney Okoth, a 15-year-old Form 3 student at Bande Girls School, has committed suicide over alleged emotional turmoil.
While confirming the incident, East Kadem Chief Winnie Malemba said that she received the unfortunate news on Sunday from the school Deputy Principal and reported the matter to Macarder Police Station under OB 2/24/09/2023.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police officers established that while her fellow students were attending a church service on the school premises, Michelle slipped away and made her way to her classroom, where she committed suicide by hanging.
The officers also discovered a suicide note left behind by Michelle alleging that she had been facing harassment from the school Head girl.
Michelle’s body was removed to Migori Level Five Mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.
Her grieving mother, Bilker Okoth Ouma, mourned the loss of her daughter saying that she hopes she will get the answers to why her daughter took her own life.
